GENERAL MANAGER

Ideal candidate is a self-starter with 3+ years hospitality or related experience.  Position focus is on leadership and success of the guest house, assuring a superior customer experience, and continually raising the bar in four key areas: Guest Experience; Employee Motivation and Development; Promotion and Marketing; and Occupancy Optimization.  The General Manager will be a role model demonstrating how to create an impeccable service experience for all guests, and will provide leadership to the Oasis team with a focus on shared objectives. The General Manager will also act as brand ambassador through multiple social media and other marketing mediums to introduce new potential guests to the property.

The General Manager’s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

Guest Experience

  • Creates a welcoming and delightful experience for all guests, our number one focus.

  • Ensures the environment throughout the house is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and warmth.

  • Provides quality advice and guidance to all guests demonstrating an exceptional knowledge of local attractions, restaurant recommendations, and current cultural and social events.

  • Evaluates and recommends enhancements to guest benefits.

  • Ensures the appearance of the Oasis Guest House to ensure optimum upkeep and repair, room cleanliness and overall property appearance.

  • Ensures minor maintenance and repairs are dealt with promptly.

  • Refers larger maintenance and repair issues to Owners for handling.

  • Oversees housekeeping staff and coordinates with outside housekeeping vendor to ensure optimum cleanliness of Property.

  • Works with outside vendors for maintenance and repairs of Property and equipment.

 

Employee Motivation & Development

  • Recruits highly qualified, spirited, team members who are passionate for the hospitality industry across all positions.

  • Develops employees in all skills required to create an exceptional customer experience in all interactions.

  • Communicates Oasis Guest House standards and expectations to all team members.

  • Conducts regular communication forums with team members to clearly share important information to allow for the successful operation of the Oasis including policy reviews, goals, etc.

  • Prepares employee schedules.

  • Manages all employee personnel forms, including hiring, performance evaluations, payroll and benefit information, etc.

 

Promotion & Marketing

  • Responds to all online guest comments in a timely manner.

  • Develops and implements a robust sales/marketing/social media and seasonal plan for approval by the owners.

  • Identifies and seeks out potential new opportunities to increase occupancy.

  • Maintains relationships with local businesses, universities, hospitals, etc. to increase the property’s visibility within the local market.

Occupancy Optimization

  • Compiles comparative operating performance reports (day to day, month to month and year-to-date) on Occupancy Rates, Average Daily Rates and other details and shares/reviews regularly with owners.

  • Adjusts and manages Online Travel Agent (OTA) inventory and rates to achieve optimal occupancy and revenue.

  • Develops incentives and special promotions as needed to improve daily occupancy and revenue.

 

Business Management

  • Assists with budget and forecasts as needed.

  • Manages employee performance metrics standards

  • Explains and manages financial activities to relevant staff.

  • Reconciles selected financial accounts.

  • Monitors collection of deposits and guest balances as well as direct-bill receivables and commission payments to vendors and OTAs.

  • Monitors inventory of food, supplies and equipment.

  • Ensures purchases made are within budget.

  • Responsible for overnight duty as scheduled.

  • Provides other relief or back-up as needed including front desk coverage, housekeeping and other duties to ensure optimum operation of the Property.
